Henry's Market (Jobs)

There are approximately fifteen Henry's Markets in the
San Diego area.  When I checked their website there
were serveral positions open in their Carlsbad store. 
This is a website that is worth checking frequently to see
if they have any new openings.

Dr Pepper Snapple Group (Jobs)

Dr Pepper Snapple Group has a warehouse in San Diego. 
When I searched their website I only came up with one job
(warehouse worker), but this is a site to watch if you are
interested in warehouse work. 

First American (Jobs)

First American has several jobs listed in the San Diego area. 
When I searched their website (I typed in San Diego in the
search field) they were hiring for a receptionist, sales
representatives, escrow officer, and escrow assistant. 

Claire's (Jobs)

There are six Claire's stores within ten miles of the 92101
zip code.  You have to go into the store to apply (you can't
apply online).  Here is a link to the store locator. 

DIRECTV (Jobs)

DIRECTV has a wareshouse in San Diego.  When I
searched their website they only had one job opening
(warehouse specialist), but if you enjoy warehouse work,
I would keep this site as one to check every couple of weeks. 

Landmark Theatres (Jobs)

There are 3 Landmark Theatres in the San Diego area. 
You can apply for a job at one of their locations by sending
your resume to Jobs@LandmarkTheatres.com 

UCSD (Jobs)

UCSD hires for their medical center in Hillcrest and their
main campus in La Jolla.  They hold workshops on getting
hired at UCSD (information available on their website ). 
UCSD has a wide variety of jobs - custodial, student services,
lab assistants, nurses, administration, etc. 

Point Loma Nazarene University (Jobs)

When I searched for jobs at Point Loma Nazarene University
they had openings for an athletic trainer, post-baccalaureate
records specialist, network engineer, and nurse practioner. 
If you are interested in working for PLNU, watch their website
for new openings to become available. 

CricKet (Jobs)

CricKet is headquartered in San Diego so they have a
variety of jobs in the region.  On their website they have
openings for retail sales representatives, HR specialist, Sr.
accountant (CPA), Sr. manager - credit and collections,
manager of government affairs, etc. 

ProFlowers (Jobs)

ProFlowers is headquartered in San Diego.  On their website
jobs are listed for seasonal customer service associate, assistant
inventory planner/buyer, recruiter, supply chain engineer, retail
product quality assurance specialist for RedEnvelope (one of
their other brands), etc. 

Smart & Final (Jobs)

There are three Smart & Final stores within five miles of the
92101 zip code.  Their website gives an e-mail address for
human resources.  You can send an e-mail and ask how to
apply for their hourly positions. 

Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill (Jobs)

The corporate office for Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill is located
in San Diego along with twenty five restaurants within fourteen
miles of the 92101 zip code.  You can apply online for general
manager positions, assistant managers, and shift leaders.  To
apply for cooks and guest service agent positions you have to
apply in person at one of the restaurants. 

Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes (Jobs)

The corporate office for Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes
is in San Diego.  That means it is possible to get a job at one
of their restaurants or at the corporate office.  There are seven
Souplantation restaurants within fifteen miles of the 92101 zip
code.  To apply for a restaurant position you can download the
application online and take it to one of their locations. 

Big Lots (Jobs)

There are eleven Big Lots stores within twenty miles of the
92101 zip code.  Online you can apply for store management
positions.  To apply for hourly positions you need to go to the
individual store. 

Eddie Bauer (Jobs)

There is an Eddie Bauer store in the Fashion Valley Mall and
one in La Jolla.  There is also an outlet at Viejas.  You can
download the application for hourly positions on their website
and then drop the application off at the store where you are
interested in working. 

Michaels (Jobs)

There are four Michaels stores within ten miles of the 92101
zip code.  You can apply online.  When I searched their website
they listed class instuctor, floral designer, custom framer,
department manager, and other positions.

thirty temp agencies and those are worth checking out. 

Borders (Jobs)

The same company owns Borders, Borders airport locations,
Waldenbooks, Borders Express, and Borders Outlet.  There
are seven Borders stores between San Diego and Carlsbad. 
You can apply to some of the positions online and some in
individual stores.  Positions you can apply online for are cashier,
seller, inventory team or supervisor positions. 

Saks Fifth Avenue (Jobs)

In San Diego there is a Saks Fifth Avenue and a Saks outlet
called OFF 5th.  Jobs at both locations can be viewed from
a single website.  When I did a search for jobs they were hiring
for administrative assistant, facilities coordinator, receiving
associate, sales associate, special events/marketing, stock
associate, etc.

Marshalls (Jobs)

Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods, and AJWright are all owned
by the same company.  When I searched their website for jobs
seven stores within twenty miles of the 92101 zip code were
hiring merchandise associates.  You can apply for the jobs online.
If possible, it is better to apply to a store in person although many
stores wont accept this method of applying anymore. 

REI (Jobs)

REI has a store in San Diego and one in Chula Vista.  When I
searched their website they had about thirty different positions
you could search to see if they were hiring in various locations. 
I searched cashier and they are hiring in San Diego.  I also
searched sales specialist and they are hiring in both San Diego
and Chula Vista.  Those were the only two jobs I searched -
many more to look through! 

Jerome's (Jobs)

Jerome's has five showrooms plus their corporate headquarters
in the San Diego area.  When I searched their website they had
positions in distribution warehouse and retail sales. 

Sears (Jobs)

On the Sears website you can apply for positions with KMart,
The Great Indoors, Orchard Supply Hardware and Sears.  
You can also find jobs with these store's distribution centers. 

Seaport Village (Jobs)

Seaport Village has dozens of shops and restaurants.  Their website 
has a job board.  When I searched the job board there were jobs
for maintenance for the historic carousel, sales associate for The
Cerveza Store, sales associate for the Bath Junkie, and sales
associate for Del Sol.  If you want to work on the waterfront with
 a lot of tourists, this might be the place for you! 

JCPenney (Jobs)

There is a JCPenney store at the Fashion Valley Mall and there is
one in National City.  I searched their website for jobs at the Fashion
Valley Mall.  They are hiring sales associates, custom decorators,
selling specialists, replenishment associates, loss prevention, styling
salon, and in fine jewelry. 

Old Navy (Jobs)

On the Old Navy website you can apply for jobs with Old Navy,
Gap, Baby Gap, Gap Kids, and Banana Republic.  When I
checked their  website  there were approximately ten jobs available
in the San Diego area. 

Albertsons (Jobs)

There are thirteen Albertsons within ten miles of the 92101 zip
code.  You can apply to all of the stores online from their website. 
It is a good idea to go in to the individual store and apply if they
allow you to. 

Bath & Body Works (Jobs)

There are ten Bath & Body Works stores within sixteen miles of
the 92101 zip code.  Their website says they are hiring.  You can
apply online.

Bed Bath and Beyond (Jobs)

There are two Bed Bath and Beyond stores within ten miles of
the 92101 zip code.  On their website, you have to scroll through
a lot of jobs in order to find some that are listed in San Diego.  I
scrolled through two pages before I saw a store management
position listed for a San Diego store. 

Petco (Jobs)

There are two Petco stores within four miles of the 92101 zip code. 
When I searched their website they were hiring for an assist store
manager, grooming assistant, dog trainers, team leaders, etc.  If you
like animals, maybe this would be a good fit for you! 

Bloomingdale's (Jobs)

Fashion Valley has the only Bloomingdale's in San Diego,
but it is a big store with lots of opportunities.  When I did
a search of their website the following positions were open,
dresses sales professional, merchandising support associate,
dishwasher, cosmetic beauty advisor, shoe sales professional,
etc. 

Toys R Us (Jobs)

There are four Toys R Us stores within ten miles of the 92101 zip code. 
You can apply online at their website for all four stores. 

Crate and Barrel (Jobs)

There are at least three Crate and Barrel locations in San Diego
County.  On their website you can get the information to apply
for a position at your nearest store, by mail, or online. 

Kay Jewelers (Jobs)

There are seven Kay Jewelers stores within thriteen miles of the 92101
zip code.  You can apply for jobs online from their website and your
application will be sent to the store nearest you. I would suggest visiting
the store nearest you to see if you can fill out an application in person. 
Remember when you go to fill out applications in person you should
dress like you would for an interview.  If you are lucky you will get to
meet the manager, and you want to look your best! 

Hertz (Jobs)

Hertz is a large company with many opportunities.  I did a search on
their website for jobs in San Diego and came up with instant return
representative, manager trainee, vehicle service attendant, courtesy
bus driver, etc.  You can apply for all of these positions online.

Jack in the Box (Jobs)

Jack in the Box is based out of San Diego so they have both
corporate jobs and jobs in their restaurants.  Some of the
corporate jobs listed on their website are corporate real estate
assets manager, video communications, quality hotline
representative, industrial engineer, senior food buyer, restaurant
equipment technician, etc.  If you want to apply to one of their
restaurants (and there are over thirty of them in San Diego
County) you can apply at their various locations for team
member positions.  If you want to apply for a management
position you can apply online at their website.

Subway (Jobs)

There are 32,578 Subway restaurants in 91 countries.  There are nine
Subway restaurants in the 92101 zip code.  You can fill out an
application online or you can visit your local Subway and fill out an
application in person.  There are opportunities as assistant manager,
manager, and sandwich artist (sandwich maker and cashier). 

Hyatt (Jobs)

The Hyatt owns and operates four hotels in the San Diego area. 
I had a difficult time searching their website for jobs, but ater
trying to click on the map several times, it finally worked.  Keep
trying, the search feature does work.  The website listed positions
as food server, food runner, front office agent, housekeeper,
massage therapist, cocktail server, concierge, cashier, business
center agent, etc. 

Starwood Hotels (Jobs)

Starwood Hotels owns and operates Sheraton, W Hotel, Westin, etc. 
Their website lists opportunities at all of these hotels and more.  Some
of the positions that they hire for are, server, bell luggage attendant,
catering convention services coordinator, cocktail server, cook,
director of sales and marketing, front desk agent, in room dining server,
etc. 

Borders (Jobs)

There are seven Borders book stores within thirty miles of the 92101
zip code.  Their website doesn't list hourly positions that are open at
their various stores, so it is difficult to know if they are hiring.  You can
visit the nearest store to you, and ask the manager if they are hiring, or
you can fill out their application online, and hope there is an opening. 

Rite Aid (Jobs)

There are ten Rite Aid stores within six miles of the 92101 zip code. 
Rite Aid accepts applications at their stores.  There is no way to apply
online. Check their website for the types of jobs they have available. 

CVS/Pharmacy (Jobs)

CVS has fifty eight stores within twenty four miles of the 91201 zip
code. On the website you can search for individual stores and see a
list of positions they are hiring for.  Some of the positions available are
beauty advisor, customer service, merchandiser, pharmacy technician,
shift supervisor, etc.  You can apply to the individual stores online.  It
might be worth a trip to your local store to see if they accept
applications in person though.

Nordstrom (Jobs)

There are four Nordstrom stores within fifteen miles of the 92101
zip code.  I searched their website for jobs and there were two and
half pages of open positions, and most of them were in retail sales. 
If you are interested in working in retail, this might be the place for
you.  You can apply online, but it would be worth your time to go to
the store closest to you and ask if you can fill out an application there. 
I always prefer applying in person over applying on the Internet.

Macy's (Jobs)

There are eight Macy's stores near the 92101 zip code.  When
I searched their website they had openings listed in cosmetics
sales, loss prevention, retail support associate, gift registry associate,
administrative support team associate, retail sales associate, etc. 
You can apply to open positions online.  If Macy's accepts
applications at their stores, I recommend you apply in person. 

Jamba Juice (Jobs)

There are thirty two Jamba Juice stores within twenty three miles
of the 92101 zip code.  I searched their website for San Diego
and they had a general manager and shift manager position listed
as open.  You can apply online.  If you are interested in working
for Jamba Juice, you can check and see if your local store accepts
applications in person - not all openings may be listed online. 

Lowe's (Jobs)

The only Lowe's I know of near the 92101 zip code is in Mission
Valley.  When I checked the Lowe's career site there were fourteen
positions open in the San Diego area.  The positions were in
receiving/stocking, seasonal employees, team members, unload
associates, cashiers, customer service associates, etc. 

Ross (Jobs)

There are ten Ross stores within thirteen miles of the 92101 zip code. 
When I searched their website almost every one of those stores was
hiring.  The positions that are open are for area supervisor, night stock
room, retail associate, and store protection specialist.  You can fill the
application out online.  I have heard from other people that Ross is good
at getting back to people that apply to their stores. 

San Diego Hospice (Jobs)

When I checked, San Diego Hospice had forty jobs listed
on their website.  They have positions as centeralized
scheduler, certified home health aide, certified nursing
assistant, customer service, licensed vocational nurse,
medical social worker, physician scheduler, spiritual
counselor, registered nurse, etc.  Getting into health care
is a great career choice because it is an industry that
continues to grow. 

Bank of America (Jobs)

Bank of America has fifty locations within an eighteen mile radius
of zip code 92101.  These locations are called banking centers on
their website so I'm not sure if they are actual branches or if they
are simply ATMs.  When I did a search for jobs in San Diego on
the Bank of America site I came up with mortgage loan officer,
teller, financial advisor trainee, residential appraiser, fulfillment team
leader, home services specialist, etc. 

Hard Rock Hotel (Jobs)

The Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego has a variety of jobs.  When I
searched their website I found openings as a executive chef, culinary
supervisor, cook, bell person, night auditor, housekeeper, human
resources director, etc.  The building is really cool and would make
for a great environment to work in.  If you worked for the
Hard Rock Hotel I imagine you would see some famous musicians,
and that would be a nice bonus! 

City of Escondido (Jobs)

The City of Escondido hires for a variety of professional positions,
and for a variety of outdoor recreational positions.  Some of the
positions listed on their website when I checked were soccer referee,
registration, scorekeeper, site supervisor, skate park attendant,
recreation specialist, etc.  The City of Escondido also offers a
volunteer and internship program that would be great if you need to
brush up on some skills or get some current experience on your resume. 

Del Mar Fairgrounds (Jobs)

The Del Mar Fairgrounds has a wide variety of jobs.  When I checked
their website they were only hiring for temporary employees but they had
many openings.  A temporary job can be a great place to start.  Often
temporary jobs can lead to a permanent position.  A temporary job can
also help you to get some recent experience to put on your resume and put
some cash in your pocket!   Some of the positions available at Del Mar
Fairgrounds are supervisor, exhibit worker, ticket seller, marketing, public
relations writer, laborer, shuttle coordinator, etc. 

Starbucks (Jobs)

Starbucks has twenty five locations near the 92101 zip code!  That
means there are a lot of Starbucks in San Diego, and that means jobs! 
Each store hires their own employees, but you can fill out an application
online at their website for individual stores.  If I were looking to work at
Starbucks, I would go to the location in person - dress for an interview,
and ask to fill out an application.  I think going in person is almost always
better than filling out applications online. 

Sycuan Casino and Tribe (Jobs)

On the Sycuan website there are jobs posted for both the casino and
the tribe.  The types of openings they have are for a restaurant server,
CNA, carpenter, housekeeper, bartender, medical assistant outreach,
slot server, teacher's aide, valet attendant, buffet cashier, etc.  They
have shuttles from almost every area in San Diego County that go to
the casino.  I don't know if employees are allowed to take the shuttles
or not. 

U-Haul (Jobs)

U-Haul has approximately ten locations in the San Diego area.  U-Haul
hires for many different positions.  Their website lists openings for assistant
general manager, customer service representative, office clerk, storage
custodian, reservation manager, transfer driver, facility maintenance
technician, etc. 

Evans Hotels (Jobs)

Evans Hotels includes The Lodge at Torrey Pines, Catamaran
Resort Hotel, and Bahia Resort Hotel.  According to SourceBook,
these three resorts employ over 1,300 people.  When I checked the
employment website , the majority of job openings were at The
Lodge at Torrey Pines.  They listed jobs in housekeeping, catering
and conference services manager, food runner, host/hostess, front
desk agent, spa locker attendant, executive meeting manager,
national sales manager, etc.

Ace Parking Management, Inc. (Jobs)

Ace Parking Management Inc provides parking services for offices,
retail, mixed use buildings, hotel and valet services, airport parking,
shuttles, stadium, arena and event parking, hospitals, and medical
centers.  That is a lot of parking!  Sourcebook reports that Ace has
over 2,500 employees in San Diego County.  You can apply online.

Marriott (Jobs)

The Marriott has nine hotels in the San Diego area, and if you are looking
to travel, they have 3,000 hotels in sixty six different countries.  You can
do a search on their website and apply to open positions at the nine different
locations in San Diego.  The Marriott hires in engineering/maintenance,
guest services/front desk, housekeeping, laundry, banquets/catering,
restaurants/bars, etc.  The larger the hotel the more jobs there are to
choose from. 

Tri-City Medical Center (Jobs)

Tri-City Medical Center is in Oceanside and serves North County
(Oceanside, Carlsbad, and Vista).  According to SourceBook
Tri-City Medical Center has over 2,000 employees.  I searched the
jobs on their website and they had openings for access management
representative, accounts payable clerk, customer service liaison,
director of patient business services, environmental services aide, HR
business partner, perioperative secretary, etc. 

National University (Jobs)

According to SourceBook, National University has 450 employees in
San Diego County.  National University has twenty eight campuses
throughout California and one in Nevada.  When I checked their website
they had open positions as a transcript coordinator, admissions advisor,
instructional aide, marketing coordinator, payroll specialist, and various
faculty positions. 

Wal-Mart (Jobs)

You can apply to Wal-Mart online.  I have read that you can also apply
at a kiosk in individual stores.  I also read that depending upon which
position you apply for you may be required to take a career assessment
test.  Wal-Mart is the largest private employer in the United States.  There
are approximately ten Wal-Mart stores within twelve miles of San Diego.  
The average full time hourly wage for a Wal-Mart is $10.83 (it is higher in
some urban areas). 

Geico (Jobs)

After reading about the amenities available for employees at Geico,
I want to work there.  Their facility has a fitness center, dining, a
Credit Union, and plenty of parking.  According to SourceBook
they have 1,900 employees in San Diego County (they are located
in Poway).  Their website says that in most locations you can start a
career in sales, service, claims or auto damage.   If you are interested
in working at Geico you can check their website and their job line at
858-513-5627. 

Palomar College (Jobs)

According to SourceBook Palomar College employs over three
thousand people.  When I checked their H.R. pages on their
website they were hiring for an English writing lab tutor, other
tutors/mentors, an administrative assistant, staff assistant, etc. 
One of the best perks of working at a college or university is
that they often allow you to take classes for a reduced rate or
for free.  Getting a free education can add up to a huge bonus for
you if the college offers this benefit. 

Wells Fargo (Jobs)

According to SourceBook, Wells Fargo employs 3,000 people in San
Diego County.  When I checked their website they had open positions
for retail sales supervisor, customer service representative, senior director
of life insurance, interns, mortgage consultant, mortgage loan officer,
private mortgage banker, etc.  If you are interested in the banking
industry I would check their website frequently because it appeared
to be updated regularly. 

Barona Resort and Casino (Jobs)

Barona Resort and Casino hires for a variety of positions.  When I checked
their website there were open positions as busser, cashier, warehouse clerk,
security officer, e-mail marketing specialist, Internet marketing specialist, etc. 
I don't know if Barona has a bus that leaves from San Diego that employees
can take, but it would be worth looking into if you are considering employment
with this casino. 

Sony Electronics Inc. (Jobs)

According to SourceBook, Sony Electronics Inc.  employees approximately
1,900 people in the San Diego area.  When I checked their website they were
hiring for software engineers, sales specialists, interactive creative director, sales
manager, product support representative, etc.  You can apply for all the open
positions online. 

Rady Children's Hospital of San Diego (Jobs)

Rady Children's Hospital has a career section at the top right hand side of their
website.  On the site they recommend that you first have a resume and cover
letter completed, because you will need to either upload or copy and paste a
cover letter and resume as a part of the online application process.  I searched
openings for administrative and clerical positions and there were thirteen jobs
listed.  They listed, administrative assistant, administrative associate, consumer
service representative, release of information specialist, etc.  There were also
many other types of jobs that could be searched for on their website. 

Target (Jobs)

When I searched under careers on the Target website I came up with six
stores in the San Diego area.  The online application process allows you to
choose three stores to apply to at one time.  Target stores have many
departments so there are many jobs in each store.  Target hires people in
sales, cashiering, merchandising, grocery (baker, deli, produce, etc.), asset
protection (security),  pharmacy, human resources, Starbucks, facilities
management, etc.  Looking at their list of positions, I almost felt like there
was something for everyone. 

AT&T (Jobs)

AT&T has twenty eight stores listed on their website within ten miles of the
92101 zip code.  I don't think every store listed is a full AT&T store though. 
They offer a wide variety of services, and the AT&T website lists twenty
different types of stores/services - wireless sales, wireless bill payments,
prepaid GoPhone refills, AT&T U-verse Services, etc.  Even if some of the
locations are just bill payment locations inside another store, it still means
employees and jobs!   When I searched their website there were several
retail sales positions open in and around San Diego.   

Sharp (Jobs)

Sharp includes four acute care hospitals, three specialty hospitals, three
medical groups plus a wide range of other facilities and services.  Sharp has
approximately 14,000 employees and has frequently been named one of the
best companies to work for in San Diego.  Sharp hires medical professionals,
as well as, administrators, clerical, support staff, social workers, etc.  A search
can be conducted on their website for available positions, and you can apply
online. 

Home Depot (Jobs)

Home Depot has fourteen stores within twenty miles of the 92101 zip code
(on the career site if you type in San Diego with the 92101 zip code you only
get ten store results back.  I had to use the store locator from their main site in
order to find all fourteen stores).  Their career site lists approximately forty
non-supervisory positions.  Home Depot hires licensed plumbers and electricians,
designers, associates for garden and paint sales, etc. 

Ralph's (Jobs)

There are at leaset thirteen Ralph's stores within ten miles of the 92101 zip code.
Their website says that most stores accept applications online but some require
you to go in person.  If I were applying, I would go in person.  I think going in
person to apply is always the best option.  If you do go in person, make sure
you dress for an interview, because you might get lucky and meet the manager.
Ralph's hires for their pharmacy, for distribution (the closest distribution centers
are in Riverside and Los Angeles), manufacturing (closest centers are in La Habra,
Compton, and Riverside) and for a variety of in-store jobs.

FedEx

FedEx has a career website that you can visit.  The website allows you to
post your resume and see which jobs match your skills, or you can search
for job openings by State.  I chose to search "all companies", "all job
categories"  in "California."  When I did this I got fourteen pages of available
jobs in California.  Not all of them were in San Diego.  There were two in La
Jolla, and in San Diego they were hiring for a center production coordinator,
a couple of jobs in customer service, several driver jobs, and a supplemental
field office job.   I didn't know this, but on their website they list fourteen
companies as a part of FedEx.  They list FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight,
FedEx Office, FedEx Corporation, etc.  With so many different areas of their
business, they must hire in many different fields.   Once again, that means jobs! 

Verizon Wireless (Jobs)

Verizon Wireless has eighteen stores within twenty five miles of the 92101 zip
code.  If you go to their website there is a "career" link at the bottom of the
page that will take you to a page that has a "search career" option on the left
hand side of the page.  Once you click on search careers you can choose San
Diego and get a list of the open positions in and around San Diego.  When I
searched the San Diego area I got a list of over ten jobs.  The jobs listed were
in retails sales, business sales, information technology, and administrative
(admin assist.).  You can apply for the jobs online. 

Best Buy (Jobs)

Best Buy has approximately eight stores in the San Diego area.  If you visit
their website you will find "careers" listed at the bottom right.  If you click
on "careers" a new window opens up with a search field.  I typed San Diego
into the search field and came up with over thrity jobs.  You can apply for all
of those jobs online.  If you are interested in appliances, computers, cameras
or the latest gadgets,  sit back, grab a cup of coffee, and start applying to all
those jobs! 

Hilton San Diego Bayfront (Jobs)

The Hilton San Diego Bayfront is one of San Diego's newest hotels.  It has 1,190
guest rooms and 30 suites.  It is big, and big translates into jobs!  As with most
larger hotels and resorts, the Hilton San Diego Bayfront hires employees for their
spa, coffee shop, restaurants, reservations, events and meetings, etc. When I
checked the Hilton's career website they were advertising for a guest service agent,
human resources coordinator, and a barista.  I would check their website often
because with a hotel this size, they are probably hiring frequently.

Hidden Job Market

If you have ever used the services of a career counselor or participated
 in a job search workshop, you have probably heard about the “hidden
job market” and how you should be looking there for available jobs. So
what exactly is the “hidden job market?” The “hidden job market” consists
of those jobs that are never advertised. It is easy to grasp the benefit of
hearing about a job opening that hasn’t been advertised – few applicants.

The two best ways to uncover these jobs are networking and informational
interviews (interviews you set up with an individual that works for a company,
or in a field you would like to work for, or in). I still recommend that people
look for jobs by networking and informational interviews, but with the
widespread use of the Internet, there is now a new hidden job market where
you can find jobs that don’t get as much publicity as the jobs on Monster.com,
Hotjobs, Craigslist, etc.

Many companies choose not to spend the money to advertise their opening
with major job sites and instead only advertise their job openings on their
company’s website. This is the hidden job market created by the Internet.
If the company doesn’t advertise on a job site, how will you know they are
hiring? To find these jobs, you will need to do research. The best place
to start your research is by making a list of all the companies where you want to
work. Check each of these company’s websites for the word career, employment
opportunities, jobs, etc. Click on those links to find out if the company you would
like to work for lists their job openings on their site. If they do list a job opening on
their site, and it is a job you are interested in, they probably have an online
application or e-mail address where you can send in your resume.

If you get through your list of companies that you would like to work for, you
can continue your research by checking the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The
BBB allows you to search by business type, for example, hotel. You will then see
a list of hotels in your city. If you can’t get the results you are looking for with the
BBB then try a Google search with some keywords for the industry you want to
work in. For example, if you wanted to work as an architect, you could type
architects and the city you live in.  The search should list several architectural firms
in your area and you can check their websites for possible job openings. This type
of research can be very time consuming but the pay off can be tremendous if you
find a job that you want that hasn’t been highly advertised.

Costco (Jobs)

Costco allows you to apply at their various stores and warehouse locations,
as well as, online.  I recommend that you take the time to go to the store and
fill out an application.  I think it is better to go in person than to fill out
applications online if you have the option.  There are eight locations in the
greater San Diego area from Mission Valley to La Mesa.  Costco hires for
warehouse positions, food service, human resources, legal, information
systems, accounting, journalism, buying, graphic arts, pharmacy, optical,
etc.  They have many jobs to fill! 

Big 5 Sporting Goods (Jobs)

There are at least five Big 5 Sporting Goods stores in the San Diego area. 
Big 5 hires for retail positions, cashiers, sales, managers, manager trainees,
clerical and technical jobs.  On their website  it says to send an e-mail to
careers@big5corp.com with a cover letter and resume to apply for a position. 
I suggest going to apply to the Big 5 stores in person and seeing if they will
allow you to fill out an application on site.  If they allow you to fill out an
application on site, make sure you attach your resume to the application. 
You can also attach a letter of introduction.  It takes more work, but in this
job market every little thing that makes you stand out as a serious applicant is
a step in the right direction!

Mor Furniture For Less (Jobs)

Mor Furniture For Less has at least two showrooms in the San Diego area
and one warehouse.  They hire for sales consultants, delivery drivers, warehouse
assistants and customer service.  There is an e-mail address online at their
website where you can send your resume.  I didn't see a list of open positions. 
I am assuming from their website that they accept applications for the jobs I
listed on an on-going basis.  They have stores in seven states so there is a
possibility that you could relocate once you work for them. 

AMC Entertainment (Jobs)

AMC theatres hire for a number of jobs.  Some of the jobs they hire for are
concessionist, usher, cashier, supervisor, and booth crew member.  There are
approximately six AMC theatres within fifteen miles of the 92101 area code. 
You can apply online at their website, but I would look online to see which
theatres are hiring and go there in person.  I think applying in person is always
better than applying online unless the company offers no other option.  It would
be fun to work in a movie theatre and get to be an expert on the current movies! 

Vons/Safeway/Pavilions (Jobs)

Vons, Safeway and Pavillions are all owned by the same company. 
There are 285 stores in Southern California.  That means jobs!  You
can apply at their website or many of the stores offer application
stations in the store where you can apply.  If I were searching for a job
at one of these stores, I would locate the stores closest to me on their
website and then go and apply at those stores in person.  Besides
the checking and bagging jobs, grocery stores usually have a bakery,
florist, butcher, and some even have a coffee shop where you can apply
for open positions.

Fashion Valley Mall (Jobs)

Fashion Valley Mall has over 200 stores and restaurants.  Their website
has a job board on it, but if you are interested in working there I would
suggest you go in person to apply to the stores or restaurants where you
would like to work.  When I checked, the job board only had three stores
listed as hiring.  It is hard to believe with all those stores that only three of
them are hiring.  A better guess is that very few stores list their openings on
the mall's main web page.  If you don't feel like taking a trip to the mall to
apply you can also go to the individual store's websites and apply online
(to those stores that offer their application online).    Some of the stores you
will find at this mall are Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Sax Fifth Avenue,
Bloomingdales, and many more.  The mall also has a Cheesecake Factory
and California Pizza Kitchen.

YMCA (Jobs)

The YMCA has approximately thirteen locations in or around San Diego, and
they hire for a wide variety of positions.  They have camp counselors, social
workers, clerical, membership (customer service), fitness professionals, childcare
workers, etc.  Most of the branches, have a website where they list their job openings.

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (Jobs)

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has many stores in the San Diego area.  If you
go to their website  click on careers in the upper left hand corner.  On the
next page you can click on hourly positions and then you can click on the
positions they are hiring for.  The two positions listed when I visited their
site were barista and shift supervisor.  There was a little box on the site that
said most of their locations are always accepting applications for shift
supervisor.  I got to the page where I could type in state, city and zip code. 
I typed in 92103 (Hillcrest) and fourteen stores were listed as accepting
applications for barista positions.  If you are looking for customer service
work and you like coffee, I would check them out! 

Horton Plaza (Jobs)

Horton Plaza has over 130 stores including places to eat.  Their website lists
all the stores, restaurants, and other services available.  If you are looking for
an entry level or assistant management position, it is worth a trip to Horton Plaza
to fill out some applications.  My advice is to bring a master application with you
(a general application that you fill out in advance) so you have all of your education
and work history in front of you.  Also bring a few good pens.  At Horton Plaza
you will find Macy's, Nordstrom, Pac Sun, Abercrombie & Fitch, Panda Express,
Starbucks, La Salsa, Hot Dog On A Stick, and many more.  You could easily spend
a day filling out applications at this mall, so wear comfortable shoes, but ones that still
look professional in case you meet the manager. 

San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD)

The San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) lists their job openings on
their website and on their jobline at 619-725-8117.  When I visited the site
there were over twenty jobs listed.  Some of the positions they were looking
to fill were budget analyst, director of transportation service, elementary school
assistant, food service worker, instructional assistant, lead police dispatcher, etc. 
The link I provided takes you to the non-teaching jobs.  There is another
link for teaching jobs.  You can apply to one of the vacant position right online.

San Diego County Credit Union

When I checked the website of San Diego County Credit Union they
were hiring for three different positions.  One was a teller position, another
was a training position, and the third was a financial analyst.  So, banks
also offer some diversity in employment opportunities.  Of course they don't
have as many positions as the large hotel or resorts (a good choice for entry
level positions and management trainee positions).  San Diego County Credit
Union also offers a twenty four hour jobline.  The number for the jobline is
858-453-6941.  I tried callling the jobline to see if the positions listed were the
same as the website, but the number was busy. 

La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club (Jobs)

The La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club has, like many of the resorts I have
already listed, many amenities so there are a wide variety of jobs in serveral
different departments.  Just in terms of restaurants they have Club Dining, the
Marine Room, and the Shores Restaurant.  The resort sits on twelve acres,
has ninety eight guest rooms, has space for meetings and events, and it has
the tennis club.  All that translates into jobs! 

Entertainment/Media (Jobs)

San Diego is not L.A.  In San Diego you can't find the same entertainment
opportunities that you can find in Los Angeles, but we do have a few
entertainment/media jobs.  KFMB lists their jobs online and on their jobline
at 858-495-8640.  KGTV also lists their openings online and on their
jobline at 619-237-6250.  I couldn't find a listing for job openings on
the KNSD website but they have a jobline at 619-578-0525.  I listened
to their jobline recording (no current positions) and it said to visit
gecareers.com for current updates.  I went to gecareers.com and it is the
job site for all of General Electric (including NBC).  It is worth a look!

SeaWorld (Jobs)

SeaWorld is another place that I think would be a fun place to work.  Most
of the jobs there are dealing with the public and I imagine most people are in
a good mood when they are visiting SeaWorld.  I could be wrong though.  If
any of you have any experience with working at SeaWorld please post it in
the comments section.  When I checked their website they were hiring for
costume characters, performers, educators and resident camp counselor.  I
assume they also hire for sales people in their gift shops, restaurant help, ticket
sales, etc.

Loews Coronado Bay Resort (Jobs)

When I checked the Loews Coronado Bay Resort website they
were hiring for nine different positions.  They also have a Jobline
that is really helpful.  The Jobline number is 619-424-4480.  On
the Jobline it says to come in to fill out an application.  I mention
that because I still believe the best way to get a job is to fill out an
application in person.   Again, this is a large resort with lots of
amenities which spells jobs!  They have positions in security,
marketing, restaurant, bar, guest services, etc.  It is kind of cool too,
because all the hotels in this group are practicing eco-friendly
policies so it is a place you can feel good about working.  There is
a ferry that runs from downtown to Coronado, and commuters
ride free.

Hotel del Coronado (Jobs)

The Hotel del Coronado has a Jobline that you can call to find out
about their open positions.  The number is 619-522-8158.  You
can also check their website .  The last time I checked their website
they had thirteen positions open.  The resort is huge with 65,000
square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting and exhibition space (meaning
they have to have a sales staff, event coordinators, catering staff, etc),
an indoor shopping mall and restaurants.  There are positions available
in administration, housekeeping, guest services, the shops, etc.  There
is a ferry that runs from downtown to Coronado and commuters ride
free.

Cox Communications (Jobs)

Cox Communications is another company that has a variety of jobs that
they need to fill.  They have very technical jobs like a network operations
technician, and they have administrative and sales jobs (inbound sales
representative).  When I searched their website I didn't see any jobs for
the San Deigo area until I used San Diego as a keyword, and in the
posted category I selected  "anytime".  Searching this way brought up a
job in San Diego.  I suggest playing around with how you search jobs on
this website. 

Viejas Casino (Jobs)

Viejas is more than just a casino.  It also has an outlet mall, a couple of
restaurants, a lounge, coffee bar, cafe, and concerts.  That means there
are a wide variety of jobs that they must fill.  Viejas has its own bus that
goes from several locations in San Diego a few times daily.  I will try to
find out if employees are allowed to take the bus to get to and from work. 
If they are, this makes working at Viejas far more appealing.  If you do get
a job there, make sure not to lose your paycheck at the slot machines!

Paradise Point Resort & Spa (Jobs)

Paradise Point Resort & Spa is a forty four acre luxury resort with a hotel,
restaurant, conference rooms, full service spa, and gift shop.  There are a
wide variety of jobs available at the resort and most of them are listed on
their website.  They hire room attendants, laundry attendants, cooks, bussers,
greeters, dishwashers, gift shop sales associates, front desk agents, etc.  You
can apply to all their open positions online.  The property is located about ten
minutes from downtown on beautiful Mission Bay.

The Zoo and Wild Animal Park (Jobs)

I think working at the Zoo or Wild Animal Park would be fun.  I heard from
one of my clients that at the Wild Animal Park they do group interviews.  She
said she was asked what she would do if someone complained about paying $3
to $4 for a Coke.  Maybe, one of my readers can come up with a good answer
to that question, and post it in the comment section.  Usually, you can apply
online to both the Zoo and Wild Animal Park .   At certain times of the year
(when they are getting ready for summer) they hold open interviews on a first
come first serve basis.  I have heard that these event draw large crowds and it
is best to get there several hours early, because they cut off the interviews at a
certain number of people.

Higher Education (Jobs)

There are many colleges and universities in the San Diego area, and they hire
for a wide variety of jobs.  They hire  for food service, administration, teaching,
medical, human resources, development, libraries, custodial, all kinds of research
positions, admissions, etc.  If you are interested in working in higher education
there are two great websites to start your search.  HigherEdJobs and HERC.
The best way to search for a job on HigherEdJobs is to start by clicking on
Search Jobs, then click on Advanced Search, then choose up to thirty positions
in the Job Category (hold down on the shift key to select more than one position),
choose California for State, then type in San Diego as a Keyword.  Doing this will
get you a list of jobs in San Diego or close to San Diego.  If you don't do this you
may end up with a list that will keep you busy all day!  Searching on HERC is a
little bit easier.  After you click on Job Listings, you can scroll down to the bottom
of the page and you will see a place where you can choose San Diego.  I leave
everything else blank and just choose the San Diego option and then I can see
all the jobs open in the San Diego area.

QUALCOMM Stadium (work and volunteer)

There are many jobs, and various agencies responsible for the hiring
at QUALCOMM Stadium.  If you are a current job seeker the following
agencies are worth a look, because they have many opportunities.  If you
are looking for an administration position, structure and field maintenance,
or custodial job you can see job openings, and apply for those openings
at the City of San Diego's Employment Information Center at the
Civic Center Plaza 1200 3rd Avenue, Suite 101A San Diego, CA 92101
or you can call the Jobline at 619-682-1011.  If you are looking for an
awesome volunteer opportunity to put on your resume, you can contact
Holiday Bowl 9449 Friars Road, San Diego, CA 619-283-5808. 
The San Diego Chargers has position in administration, ticket sales,
marketing and promotions.  You can find out about job openings with
the Chargers by calling their Job Hotline at 858-874-4500 Ext. 421. 
Centerplate hires concession workers, administration, novelty and program
sellers.  To contact Centerplate call 619-641-6035.  Ace Parking hires
cashiers and traffic directors.  You can apply for a position with Ace Parking
at their website.  Elite Services hires security, ushers, guest service workers
and administration.  You can see a list of current openings at Elite Services' website,  
and you can call 619-574-1589 and mention the position you are interested in. 

Working for the City of San Diego

The City of San Diego offers a wide variety of jobs.  Some of the jobs
available are accountant, librarian, paralegal, swimming pool manager,
recreation leader, police recruit, etc.  The City offers health insurance,
retirement, and other good benefits.  You can see some of the City's
job openings at their website.  The website does not list all the current
openings though.  For a complete list of openings you can call their Jobline
at 619-682-1011.  You can also receive an updated list of job openings
by visiting the Employment Information Center located in the Civic Center
Plaza Building: 1200 3rd Avenue, San Diego. Operating hours are Monday

Volunteer to Beef Up Your Resume

If you are currently out of work, it is a good idea to spend some of your time
volunteering.  Volunteering can give you some recent experience to put on your
resume, and you can learn new skills or practice some skills you already have.
Choose your volunteer experience wisely.  Make sure you pick an organization
that you would like to work for (in case your volunteering works into a job
offer).  Also, choose a volunteer opportunity that will give you a chance to
learn new skills, or that uses skills that you would like to use in a new job.
Finally, make sure you pick an organization that inspires you.  If you are
passionate about the environment maybe you should volunteer with
I Love A Clean San Diego or if you want to raise awareness about domestic
violence, or homelessness you could volunteer at the YWCA of San Diego

Non Profit and Socially Conscious Work

You don't have to be a social worker to work for a non profit organization. 
There are many different types of jobs in a non profit agency.   Some of the
jobs that non profits hire for are grant writer, executive assistant, residential
workers, employment specialists, human resources, program managers, social
workers, receptionist, volunteer coordinator, event planner, etc.   You can find
some of these jobs listed at Idealist .   Many non profit organizations have been hit
hard by the recession,  but they still seem to be posting jobs on a regular basis.
A local (San Diego) place to look for non profit jobs is NPWorks.  It is possible
to collect a paycheck, and do something great for a good cause! 

Airline Jobs

This website lists the airlines that serve San Diego International Airport. 
Once you are on the web site, there is a link to each airline's web page. 
Click on the link and look for the word "careers" or "employment" and
click on that.  These words are usually near the bottom of the page.  Look
around a little bit because each site is different.  Once you have located
where the airline lists its career information, there is usually a search feature
and you can search for open positions in San Diego.  I applied for an entry
level customer service position with an airline once and was asked to a group
interview.  I made it to the next to last cut - not good enough!  I think my
major problem was I was having difficulty accounting for the last ten years
of employment.  If you get an interview with an airline expect to have to show
what you have been doing for the last ten years - school, jobs, etc.  If you are
just out of high school or college they won't require this information from you. 
Also, if you fill out an application online for an airline, expect to take a personality
test -takes ten to twenty minutes.  They use the test as a way to screen applicant
so it is important how you answer.  Answer the questions on the test in terms of
being a good employee.  Remember, they are asking you these question to
evaluate how you would perform/behave on the job. 

Federal Employment

USAJOBS is a one stop shop for government jobs (federal employment). 
At the home page you can type in San Diego, CA and get a list of all federal
jobs available in San Diego and the surrounding area.  There is a possibility
you will see jobs listed with the Navy, the Army, National Parks, etc.  Any
federal agency that is hiring in the San Diego area will have a listing.  It is a
wonderful resource.  I know several people who have been hired by putting
their applications in to jobs listed on this site.  It can be a long process though. 
Getting hired on with a federal agency can take one to several months.  Besides
the great benefits like health insurance, vacation, retirement, etc. you can often
move between federal agencies and to different cities once you get hired.  There
are even jobs overseas!

Department of the Navy, Civilian Human Resources

Working for the Navy as a civilian can be great.  The benefits are
good (health insurance, retirement, vacation, holidays, training, etc.). 
A good place to start your search for a one of these jobs is at the
Department of the Navy, Civilian Human Resources.  If the link
seems to be broken it isn't.  When I try to open this page on my
computer it says that the certificate is not trusted or the web page
is suspect.  If this happens to you, just press the option of going
to the web site any way (the browser will probably list that this is
not recommended - I do it anyway, it is a government site!  I think
it can be trusted). 

Scripps Health (Jobs)

Scripps Health was named to Fortune Magazine's 2009 "100 Best
Companies to Work For List."  If you are a mental health consumer,
you can look into A-Visions Vocational Training Program .  People
with psychiatric disorders can participate in the training program and
it can lead to employment.   

For other job seekers Scripps offers a chance to chat with one of their
recruiters.  The chat is scheduled every Friday from 1:00 - 3:00

Marine Corps Community Services - MCRD San Diego

An excellent place to apply for work is Marine Corps Community
Services at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD).  In order to
get past the gate you will first need to be put on a "Depot Access List."
You can sign up to be put on the list from their web site.   In order to
drive on the depot you will need a driver's license, vehicle registration,
and vehicle insurance.  I recommend applying in person at human
resources, just make sure you read the requirements and follow the
directions in order to assure access to the depot. 

Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Navy (Jobs)

Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) for Navy Region Southwest
is an excellent place to put in an application.  They are usually accepting
applications for housekeepers, laborers, food service workers, clerical,
recreation assistants, childcare, etc.  I recommend going to their office
and filling out their application in person, because they have a listing at
their office of all available openings.  Be aware that their application is
long and detailed so be prepared with your work and education history.

Career Fair (February 5th) and Other Dates

A great way to find out about companies in San Diego is to attend a career fair. 
At the last career fair I went to many of the companies weren't hiring, but they
told me when they would be hiring, and what the process was for getting hired
with their organization.  I was sorry I didn't bring enough resumes with me,
because the one place (Federal Government) that I really wanted to get hired
at was accepting applications for a position I was qualified for.  This was a big
mistake on my part, because usually the application process with the Federal
Government is conducted online, and in this case a person was actually accepting
resumes.  Don't make the mistake I did - bring plenty of copies of your resume!

211 has over 300 listings for employment services in San Diego.  It is the
 place to start any job search in San Diego, because you can find out exactly
what services are available to you as a job seeker.  211 has listings for
employment services from a variety of agencies.  There are agencies listed
that assist seniors, disabled, veterans, active duty military (and their spouses),
mental health consumers, and other job seekers.  You can find agencies that
offer computer labs (a place to conduct your job search), counselors,
employment developers,  vocational services, career assessments, etc.  This
web site is worth a look!  

Interviewing

Landing an interview with a company is a huge accomplishment.  Some
companies receive hundreds of resumes for a single job.  Here are some
resources to help prepare you to do your best at an interview.  Preparing
for an interview can be the difference between getting a job offer and not
getting one.  I ask clients to write down their answers to some common
interview questions so that they will have an organized and concise answer
if they are asked that particular question.  I also conduct practice interviews.

Department of Rehabilitation (for those with a disability)

If you have a disability, the Department of Rehabilitation or DOR may
be able to assist you with any of the following (or a combination of these
services) training, education, transportation, and/or job placement.  Take
a look around their web site, or call them to see if you qualify for their services.

Clothing

You are going to need one to two nice business outfits for going on interviews,
and when you get hired you might just need a whole new wardrobe.   Don't panic. 
It doesn't need to cost you a fortune to dress nicely.  Here are some thrift stores
(second hand stores) where you can find both new and gently used clothing. 
If you don't like the idea of used clothing you can find very nice clothes that are
reasonably priced at a Ross.

Transportation

If you have a car, don't forget the added expense and the problem of parking in
San Diego.  If you are going to a career center, to an interview, or you are starting
your new job, give yourself plenty of time to find parking.  A better bet, and probably
a better deal, is to take Metropolitan Transit System or MTS.  You can type in your
location and destination on their web site and you will be able to print out four different
routes to your destination.  Remember to type your trip in reverse to so you will know
which bus or trolley to take on your return trip.  If you are connected with a social service
in San Diego, it is possible that they will provide you with bus tokens or a bus pass. 
Currently, the cost for an adult monthly pass is $72.  A monthly pass for senior and
disabled is $18.  To get a disabled bus pass you need to take a photo ID and a letter
from your doctor to the transit station.  At the transit station they will issue you a disabled
ID that you need to carry with you to buy your bus pass and to ride the busses and trolley.

Free Classes and Job Training

San Diego Community College District offers hundreds of free classes as a part

of their Continuing Education.  They have ten convenient campus locations from

Miramar to Ocean View Boulevard.  They offer hundreds of free classes and

many free job training programs.  The free classes range from computer classes

to Tai Chi.  There are twenty free job training programs (certificate programs)

offered.  The certificate programs are in culinary arts, automotive, business,

computers, and metal trades.  There really is something for everyone, and

these programs and classes can give you just the skills you need to land your

next job!

Goodwill Industries of San Diego County (Jobs)

Goodwill Industries seems to have something for almost every job seeker. 
They offer five Employment Centers .  In order to utilize the services at the
Employment Centers (meeting with an Employment Specialist, using the computer
lab, faxes, etc) you will have to bring your driver's license or California ID,
and your Social Security card.  They also suggest you bring your resume if
you have one.  Goodwill hires workers, helps workers find training at other

Resume

I was at a job developer's meeting where Rosanna Indie was the guest speaker.
If you have the chance to attend an event where she will be speaking, I highly
recommend that you go.  One thing she said about resumes is that the top three
to four inches of the resume is "prime real estate."  What she meant was, use
that space to really highlight your skills because it may be the only part of your
resume that gets looked at.  You really have to sell yourself there.  In that space
on my resume I list five sentences about what I would bring to an organization
- using my accomplishments to do so.  There are a variety of good ways to use
 that space, just remember to use it wisely and creatively!

Career Centers (San Diego Workforce Partnership)

If you want to get a real boost to your job search, you should utilize the
services of one of the eleven Career Centers that are a part of San Diego
Workforce Partnership. The eleven Career Centers are spread throughout
San Diego County so most likely you will find one near you. At the Career
Centers you can use the computers for your job search. They also conduct
workshops on resume writing and interviewing, and if you qualify they can
set you up with job training. They have special programs for youth, people
with disabilities, war veterans, military personnel and their spouses. In order
to sign up for services you must have your Social Security card, and your
driver's license or California ID. It is best to go early in the morning so you
can get an appointment without a long wait. Don't forget those two forms of
ID!

Cover Letter Resources

Most cover letters today are actually e-mails, or a box to fill in on a web site,
but don't drop the formality of the traditional cover letter just because there is
no actual piece of paper. You should still use proper English and not text
messaging short cuts. Don't assume that a hiring manager knows what lol
(laugh out loud), kit (keep in touch) or other short cuts mean. Along the same
line, don't use trendy spellings for words like gunna for going to, or cuz for
because. Treat an introductory e-mail (cover letter) as a formal document.
You are more likely to get your resume read and be asked in for an interview
if you stick to these few simple rules.

Staffing and Temp. Agencies (Part I)

There are many benefits to starting out with a staffing or temporary agency.
The biggest benefit is that they can help you to start working. Other benefits
have to do with flexibility, having a job that might lead to a permanent position,
and having current experience to show on your resume. San Diego has many
